Tinabilan..” extracted from the legendary word “tabil” to cover..basically the small community long time ago had “houses covered ( or may”tabil”) with woven mat (or banig in Visayan dialect) made out of dried leaf of “balew” a kind of plant.
The First “Banig”(Balew) Festival of Brgy Tinabilan was successfully held today May 10, 2019. There were four beautiful showdown from the four energetic teams from the community the Cluster 1-Sitio Cambinos- Purok Mahigugmaon ug Malipayon, Cluster 2- Purok Panagdait ug Purok Panaghiusa, Cluster 3- Purok Matinabangon ug Purok Mapailubon & Cluster 4- Purok Paglaom ug Purok Malinawon.
Congratulations to the winner of 1st BANIG FESTIVAL…For the Grand Champion Cluster 2- Purok Panagdait ug Purok Panaghiusa, 1st Runner-up Cluster 4- Purok Paglaom ug Purok Malinawon, 2nd Runner-up Cluster 3- Purok Matinabangon ug Purok Mapailubon, 3rd Runner-up Cluster 1-Sitio Cambinos- Purok Mahigugmaon ug Malipayon.
The Barangay Tinabilan thru the Barangay Captain Leonardo Encienzo expressed his sincere gratitude for the success of the Festival especially because of the Barangay Tinabilan covered court that gave the real fitting ambiance of the Festival.
